Major earthquake shakes near Neiafu, Tonga

A magnitude 7.6 earthquake was reported 112 km WSW of Neiafu, Tonga, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake occured Tuesday 24th March 2026 05:37 GMT and struck at a depth of 237 kilometers.
It is likely this earthquake has caused serious damage over larger areas.
